Being in the centre of the Baltics, Riga is a jewel of the region offering vibrant nightlife and a wide range of cultural events for those willing to feel the city's strong heartbeat, as well as relaxing and quiet corners, parks, riversides and picturesque cobbled streets for those seeking refuge and peace.

Mr. JÄnis Vanags, Vice President Corporate Communications of airBaltic: "As a growing business and leisure destination, Dubai increasingly needs expanding transport links to the Northern Europe. The new route of airBaltic to Riga is an excellent air bridge to the Baltics and beyond to Scandinavia, Western and Eastern Europe."

Built over 800 years, always on the crossroads of history, Riga has developed an exquisite beauty and charm of it own. From the early days of its foundation in 1201, Riga has fascinated craftsmen, merchants and warlords with its beauty and prime location in the heart of the region. In response, they created a history of Riga through wonderful legends, marvellous architecture, and a dynamic lifestyle.

Contemporary Riga is a picturesque blend of architectural heritage and intricate legends that date back to the German, Swedish, Russian, Polish, and Latvian lords of Riga and Latvia.

Now, with nearly 1 million citizens, Riga is rapidly becoming a financial and political center of the Baltics, a renowned host for international fairs and conferences, as well as an attractive destination for many international travelers.

The beauty of this medieval Hanseatic city has been polished and accentuated during the preparations of its 800-anniversary celebration. Uniquely modern yet undiscovered, the hottest city in the North. In Riga you will find it all - excellent cuisine, diverse culture, stunning architecture, vibrant nightclubs, and possibly the best pub scene around the Baltic Sea. Fresh, alive, friendly!
