34-member cast to feature 30 Dubai based children
The acclaimed musical Oliver! will be staged in Dubai for two days on June 20 and 21 at the Souk Madinat Theatre as part of events planned for Dubai Summer Surprises 2008. The theatre event is a unique production, featuring a cast of 34 including 30 talented Dubai-based children and 4 professional actors from the UK.
The musical will have three performances; the opening one on June 20th at 7pm and two shows at 2pm and 7pm on June 21st. The sensational score, a masterpiece by the renowned musical and song composer, Lionel Bart, features an array of irresistible songs and spectacular settings for a one-of-a-kind show. The musical is being staged by 'Step by Step' in association with Dubai Summer Surprises, Firstnet, Airmiles Middle East, 7 Days, Brewsters, and United Colours of Benetton.

Children in Dubai were trained to perform Oliver and I'm sure audiences will applaud their performances as much as they admire the overall quality of the show."
Oliver! first appeared in the West End in 1960, enjoying a long run, and was made into a film directed by Carol Reed in 1968. The musical is loosely based upon Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. It was the first musical adaptation of a Charles Dickens novel to become a stage hit and one of the reasons why it attracted such attention.
Tickets for Oliver! are priced at AED 95 and will be on sale through Time Out Tickets and Madinat Theatre Box Office.
