Abu Khader Automotive and Opel have recently launched Opel Mechanical Engineer Program in Jordan, starting with the University of Jordan and spreading out to other Universities in the coming years.

Launching this initiative comes in line with Abu Khader Automotives responsibility to support the educational System and bridge the gap between education and labor market needs.

An Opel car from any of the available models at AK showrooms will be the case study for every senior Mechanical Engineering student, the case study may include any automotive related topics, students will have full access to the service centers, mechanics and engineers' for any consultancy and needed support. By the end of the program every student or every group will be required to present the study analysis to the Opel committee, and according to the committee's evaluation, the participants will be short listed to decide on the program winner

"The gap between education and labor market needs is an important issue to tackle. With launching this program; we are aiming at bridging this gap by providing students with the practical experience the job market requires., We also want to create a competitive environment between students, to motivate them into becoming more involved in the Mechanical Engineering field, and eventually excelling when getting into the job market" said Zaid Abdullat, General Manager of Abu Khader Automotive.

Dr. Adnan Jaradat, Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Jordan further explained the importance of such programs where students can get the real sense of responsibility and challenge. Studying and testing a high quality well- known brand like Opel is considered a great opportunity to help students better understand the essence of Mechanical Engineering and eventually stand out when entering the real world of employment.
