School of Management Among 5% of Worldwide

Business Degree-Granting Institutions with AACSB Accreditation

Abu Dhabi, UAE - Abu Dhabi's accessible American university, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), has announced that its School of Management, including Abu Dhabi's bachelor's and M.B.A. programs, has earned accreditation by AACSB International -- the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The culmination of a four-year effort, this prestigious designation adds NYIT to a very short list of Abu Dhabi institutions whose business degrees are recognized for attaining a high level of educational quality.

"AACSB accreditation confirms the distinct value of NYIT's high-caliber business and management programs and is a recognition of the strength and relevance of our offerings here and at our global campuses," said NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D. Abu Dhabi Executive Director Ahmad Tabbara added, "We are all very happy that our School of Management has reached this milestone. Our students and faculty have worked hard to achieve this recognition."

NYIT School of Management - one of seven NYIT colleges and schools - administers undergraduate and graduate programs at all of its campuses, including New York City; Abu Dhabi; Long Island (suburban New York); Nanjing; and Vancouver. All NYIT School of Management degrees are now included in AACSB's internationally recognized accreditation, regardless of the campus where they are earned. All of these programs emphasize professional enrichment, experiential education, and student advancement through leadership and extra-curricular activities.

Less than five percent of the world's 16,000 institutions offering business degrees have earned AACSB accreditation, the result of a rigorous peer-review and self-evaluation process.Until now, Zayed University (ZU) has been the only Abu Dhabi institution in this category, and Abu Dhabi University was accredited on the same occasion as NYIT.

NYIT-Abu Dhabi M.B.A. student Mohamed Yakoub stated, "I'm proud to earn a degree from an AACSB-accredited program, because it's among the world's elite business degrees." NYIT-Abu Dhabi School of Management chief Gantasala V. Prabhakar, Ph.D., stated, "A university that is accredited by AACSB International is one that seeks excellence for both students and faculty."

In New York City, School of Management Dean Jess Boronico, Ph.D., praised NYIT's leadership, faculty, staff, and students for what he called a "herculean effort" across all campuses. He recalled that during the final peer review visit to the New York campuses, the team members spent an entire day on conference calls with faculty, students, and others at campuses outside the U.S.

"Everybody spoke about the same processes, activities, outcomes, and student opportunities toward demonstrating that we are one united global community advancing a common mission," Boronico said. "The fact that we were able to build a vibrant and engaged community of scholars and stakeholders, highly synchronized and personally invested, evidences that we are a best-practice organization."
