The Emirate is participating alongside a record breaking 5, 600 travel industry firms, representing 202 countries and regions. Abu Dhabi will use the show to position itself in the global tourism landscape as a leading tourist destination.
Staged annually in London under one roof, World Travel Market is business to business exhibition and also introduces delegates to a fresh and innovative dimension into the travel and tourism industry. The WTM provides a unique opportunity for Abu Dhabi to showcase its potentials to a wider global audience. It is a forum for the whole global travel trade industry to meet, network, negotiate, conduct business and stay abreast with the latest developments in the travel industry. It also brings together worldwide buyers and sellers from every sector of the industry in addition to an array of specialists, strategists, policy makers, tourism developers, agents, tour operators, aviation companies, conference and festival organizers and many others.
Commenting on the importance of the show, ADTA Marketing Manager Ali Ahmed Al Hosani said Abu Dhabi would seek to cement its existing international networks and partnerships during the event. This is in addition to showcasing its latest tourism development projects. The exhibition, he said, will also provide an opportunity for us to gauge the latest trends in the industry as well as familiarizing ourselves with clientele inclinations.
'Since ADTA's participation at last year's WTM, we have made significant strides in the tourism arena in the emirate. Most notably is the opening of ADTA offices in London and Frankfurt and we are also on the process of opening five more offices in Europe within the next three years,' said Al Hosani.
As a testimony to the massive promotional drive that the ADTA has undertaken over the last seven months, Abu Dhabi Emirate maintained a strong and glittering presence in the British and German media.
'As a direct response to the tourism boom, Abu Dhabi was featured in some 47 British and German publications. While British publications ran 127 items, German publications ran some 359 items, ranging from feature articles, news stories and other forms of news coverage', he said.
Al Hosani added:
'This strong and proactive presence in the global arena underscores our determination to reinforce the international tourism profile of Abu Dhabi. It is also a message to our private sector that stakes are high in this industry which is quite promising. In other words, the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular has a lot more to offer for the global tourism industry'.
On the participation of the private sector at the London WTM, Al Hosani said Abu Dhabi hotels and tourism companies will endeavor to captivate the attention of the European tourists through the many incentives in addition to other attractions such as , desert, beach or heritage tourism.
