First International Animation Celebration Day to be held in Dubai during DSF

With countless innovative concepts lined up to enthrall and entertain revellers during the 10th anniversary of the mega Dubai Shopping Festival, the DSF office initiates yet another first - the First International Animation Celebration Day to be held in the emirate. Running from January 28 to February 2, 2005, the six-day celebration is expected to attract a cross section of visitors.

The First International Animation Films Celebration in Dubai, one of DSF's official events, will take place at the Madinat Jumeirah "Amphitheatre" and the Wild Wadi. The event is open to the public for free at the Madinat Jumeirah and at the rate of normal entrance tickets to Wild Wadi.

The Celebration Day will screen 200 animation films from USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East and will also showcase the international variety and quality of expertise involved in the making of animated films. With an interesting assortment of recent films, as well as retrospectives and historical ones, the event is tailored to appease the taste of all film-lovers across the age barrier.

This special screening of animated films will provide a unique opportunity to the residents of Dubai as well as DSF visitors to view some of best films in the genre. And with the DSF being a family-oriented affair, the main constituency of the audience will be represented by the family whom the event targets.

This important regional celebration will be repeated annually with the cooperation of the AFCA in France and ASIFA International and other organizations. Besides the fantastic films lined up for the audience and other activities during the celebrations, international and Arab celebrities of the animation field will pay tributes at the opening and closing ceremonies of the gala event.

An added interesting feature of the festivities will be the workshops being organized on how to make animation films. Expert Egyptian (Imprint) and Emirates (Emaritoons) based studios will train visitors in producing 2D and 3D animation, clay animation and puppets animation during the six-day celebrations. An art gallery will also be displaying paintings portraying the history of the animation industry in the world.
