Panasonic, the leading global manufacturer of consumer electronics and home appliances, will unveil its impressive range of large screen Plasma Display Panels (PDP) and DLP/LCD Projectors, as part of its new range of industrial display products at GITEX Dubai 2004. The show will be held at Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC) from October 3 to 7, 2004.

Although Panasonic's PDPs are well known for their high quality images, until now the biggest size available was the 50" panel. Today Panasonic announced launching 65-inch diagonal high-definition PDP TH-65PHD7W in the UAE market from Feb 2005. Also to be introduced at GITEX are the new 42 inch PDP TH-42PWD7W; the PT-D5500, the world's brightest one-chip mid-to-large venue DLP Projector and the PT-LB10 series micro-portable LCD Projectors.

The large screen models can be used to display information or advertisements, make presentations and even in security systems, extending their application to industries like hotels, hospitals, banks, educational institutions, broadcast media, amusement centres, malls and small retail outlets and public facilities.

Commenting on the new industrial display products, Hitoshi Shigetomi, Manager, system products, Panasonic Marketing Middle East FZE, Dubai said, "The growing popularity of high-quality digital image sources has raised consumer expectations for exceptional viewing performance. Panasonic's commitment to customer satisfaction has led to above and beyond image quality. Its functions, expandability and reliability meet a variety of business application for tomorrow."

The TH-65PHD7W and TH-42PWD7W, each model features a host of functions that includes Dual Picture, 4x Digital Zoom and 4 x 4 Multi-Screen. Each also inherits the multi-function slots that were so popular in previous models, and goes a step further by adding SDI terminal boards, wireless function board and PC function board. This expandability gives the new models the flexibility to answer a wide range of professional applications.

All Panasonic PDPs use Pnasonic's original progressive plasma display panel with the equivalent of 1,536 shades in darker scenes, co lour expressivity (3.62 billion colures). The Panasonic Plasma Display Panels provides a long service life of 60,000 hours.*  (Time until panel brightness is reduced to half its initial level.)

Panasonic will also be introducing the PT-D5500, the world's brightest one-chip DLP (digital light processing) projectors for mid-to-large venues. With an ultra brightness of  5,000 ANSI  ((American National Standards Institute) lumens with XGA resolution and a compact design, the visually-stunning projector is highly suited for business and industrial use, it is ideal for demanding, non-stop 24hrs/7days applications. The PT-D5500 is equipped with a high-contrast, one-chip DLP subsystem and a completely-sealed, dust-free, fluid-cooled optical system and can deliver uniformed colors.

The line-up also includes a range of wireless micro-portable LCD projectors. Offering high performance, fast operation and sophisticated features, the ultra-compact note-book size range includes the PT-LB10NT (2,000 ANSI-lumens/XGA) with wireless connectivity; the PT-LB10 (2,000 ANSI-lumens/XGA) and PT-LB10S  (2,000 ANSI-lumens/SVGA) as well as the PT-LB10V (1,600 ANSI-lumens/XGA).  At a height of just 65mm and 2.1 kg weight (the PT-LB10NTE weighs 2.2 kg), these ultra-light units are easy to move between locations, from a boardroom to a training center, from a mosque setting to a classroom.

Panasonic's PDP and DLP/LCD projector range is available through its UAE distributor, Al Futtaim Panatech, part of the Al Futtaim Group.

*Estimated time until panel brightness is reduced to half its initial level when displaying standard moving images. Displaying a single still image for long periods can cause the image to be burnt onto the screen, leaving a permanent afterimage.
