Themed "Celebrating Emiratisation"
Abu Dhabi, October 2013: More than 160 prominent decision makers from government organizations and human resource experts discussed yesterday the best innovative Emiratisation strategies and non-traditional career options for Emiratis as well as the leadership roles of women in driving Emiratisation during the opening ceremony of the 5th annual Emiratisation Forum at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi. Organized by Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group, the two-day forum which was held in strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council as the official Emiratisation partner, "Etihad Airways" as a gold sponsor, and "Injazat Institute" as the silver sponsor.
Commenting on the significance of the forum in its fifth year, Dr. Ahmed Badr, CEO of Abu Dhabi University's Knowledge Group explained that the annual forum lies at the forefront of the Group's executive agenda of events each year due to the positive results it has yielded every time.
"The Emiratisation forum opens up an ongoing dialogue between experts and specialists in the field, and provides a unique platform to highlight the various initiatives and successful models in the application of Emiratisation strategies within various institutions and government entities. This year, the forum derives its importance from the directives of our wise leadership in making 2013 the year of Emiratisation and to combine efforts through launching a range of initiatives and policies that make Emiratisation a national priority", said Dr. Badr.
On his part, Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi Project Manager at Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) presented an overview of the Centre's Emiratisation initiatives. He explained that ADSIC diligently works to develop and improve the initiatives of transforming government services to bring about a modern efficient government that provides services to its constituents, which match the best e-platforms worldwide. It has introduced recent initiatives that come within its framework of its social responsibility role as the owner of ICT agenda in Abu Dhabi initiatives, such as the e-citizen program and Jobsabudhabi.ae.
Al Hashimi pointed out that the E-citizen programs train residents of the emirate on the basics of using computers and the Internet and enable them to use e-Government services which are provided through the Abu Dhabi Portal (abudhabi.ae). It also helps them on completing daily transactions with private sector through various sites on the Internet. It also demonstrates how to use the Internet to communicate effectively with individuals, groups and access to information, products and services.
He added: "While Jobsabudhabi.ae has proved its worth in the online recruitment service in Abu Dhabi by adding more than 870 employers, 400,000 job seekers of which 82,000 are Emiratis. Through the website, private and public sector employers of Abu Dhabi interact with national and global talent via the Career e-Fair, the latest edition of the emirate's leading online recruitment exhibition. It's a three day e-Fair which is held annually and is set to provide employers and job-seekers an easy, convenient and real-time platform .The website is available in Arabic, English and French languages".
On his part, Mansoor BelSelah Head of UAE Talent Development at "Etihad Airways" highlighted the company's approach to implementing Emiratisation strategies as a business priority and developing national talent to drive business success.
