Dubai, UAE, 10th September 2009 - 3M, the leading technology company that produces thousands of innovative products for dozens of diverse industries announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Grafoplast S.p.A., a manufacturer of wire identification systems for the global wire and cable market.

"Grafoplast's range of electrical permanent marking products complements 3M's existing range of tape marking system products, and will help us to better serve the world's wire and cable markets," said Martin Parsons, who heads up the 3M Electro and Communications Division in the Middle East.

"This acquisition means that 3M can now offer a complete marking system solution for customers across a range of industries, both in the Middle East region and around the world."

Grafoplast's innovative range of products--from thermal printers and software to identification systems for special applications, cable holders and insulated end sleeves--serve installers, contractors and automation industries across the globe.

3M Wire Marking and Identification Systems are used for marking wire and cable of all diameters, distribution panels, repair and replacement parts, wires and hoses in motorized vehicles, terminal strips, motor leads, sub-motor leads, sub-assembly leads, and control panels.

Acquisitions of complementary brands such as Grafoplast support both 3M's core electrical supplies business and its strategy to expand into adjacent markets and accelerate the company's growth - particularly in the Middle East.
