Children have a ball with snow themed virtual games and 3D photographs against the alpine backdrop during DSS Ice Surprises Week organised by DEWA

Want to experience snow without actually touching it or feeling the chilly wintry breeze? Then try out the 3D games at BurJuman. Or better still take some memories of a snowy experience home in the form of photographs atop snowcapped mountains. You don't have to be physically present to experience snow as technology has made it possible to bring snow to your doorstep at the peak of summer. Children can look forward to some exciting fun with snow and ice whilst enjoying the comforts of the familiar shopping malls during the Ice Surprises Week from June 21 to June 28.

DEWA, the organisers of Ice Surprises week, are holding an exciting array of 3D games based on the theme of ice and snow where kids get to experience snow adventures using a joystick and a screen. Children of different age-groups get a chance to try their hand at several 3D games on offer on the second floor of BurJuman just next to Barista every day from 5pm to 10pm through the surprises week and have some thrilling adventures. These games are basically computer games providing 3 dimensional viewing, creating a sort of a virtual reality for the player. The 3D effects make you feel a part of the entire settings that are being shown on the computer screen. All the games have to be played using 3D glasses which are provided at the venue and the kids can also have them for keepsake.

The gaming area is spread across five metres and is equipped with a projector, screen, computer with one console and two joysticks. So two players can enjoy the game simultaneously. The high-speed games are themed on ice and snow and transport you to the alpine mountains. What's more, the chilling adventure comes for free as no fee is being charged for these games.

Another 3D event is on at Deira City Centre at a special photo studio where you get a chance to pose against the backdrop of snowcapped mountains. The event is a charity event organised by DEWA as all the proceeds from the fee would go to charity. For Dh5 you can get a feel of the mountains and real snow in natural surroundings. Children are given winter costumes as they pose against the three dimensional props such as penguins and white mountains dotted with pines to create the real feel of a temperate winter. The 3D studio is open to all from 5pm to 10pm in the evening every day of the Ice Surprises Week.

The 10-week long DSS, which opens with the Ice Surprises week on June 21, will continue with the weekly themes, including International Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Arts Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises, and concludes with Back-to-School Surprises on September 1.
