The Nissan Murano's Double Overhead cam design uses lightweight aluminum components and advanced friction reducing technologies resulting in an engine that does more with less effort, mated to a six speed manual gearbox with continuously variable transmission (CVT) to maintain the most efficient RPM range and ensure velvet-like ride quality.

The split fold down rear seat includes a reclining feature and remote flip down function so that the seats can be released from the rear cargo area. Other interior amenities include standard dual zone climate controls and rear air conditioning vents located on the B pillars.
Standard safety features include dual stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors; front -seat side impact supplemental air bags and front and rear curtain side impact supplemental air bags.
The Nissan Murano has a Zone body construction comprising of a high intensity cabin structure built with cross members and reinforcements protecting occupants, while the front and rear crumple zones help absorb impact reducing amount of crash energy reaching passenger compartment.
