KYIV- Ukrainian sugar refineries have started the 2020/21 production season, processing the first 17,400 tonnes of sugar beet, Ukraine's national sugar union Ukrtsukor said on Tuesday.
The union has said output of white sugar made from sugar beet in Ukraine is likely to fall by 15% in 2020 to between 1.2 million and 1.3 million tonnes.
White sugar production fell by 19% in 2019 to 1.48 million tonnes due to a smaller beet harvest.
