Two more flights have been scheduled to take Indians from Bahrain back home in the next two weeks, it has been learnt.
Air India Express is expected to operate the flights between May 16 and 22, according to Indian Embassy charge d’affaires Norbu Negi.
The GDN reported last week that thousands of Indians have registered to return home, on the online platforms of the embassy and the Non-Resident Keralites Association (Norka).
“We understand that the second phase of the evacuation plan would be between May 16 and 22,” Mr Negi told the GDN yesterday.
“Around 15,000 people have registered but after discounting duplications on the two online platforms, the actual figure could be around 12,000.”
The GDN reported that the first Air India Express flight took home 182 Indians from Bahrain to Kochi on Friday, while the second is scheduled for today to Kozhikode.
The flight which will be arriving from Thiruvananthapuram today may likely fly in Bahraini nationals and permanent residents.
“There are 180 people who have purchased tickets to fly to Kozhikode,” said Mr Negi.
“The passengers include four infants, pregnant women, the elderly, people with medical issues who have been medically cleared to fly, and those who have no valid visas.”
