The Ministry of Religious Endowments has announced that daily Tarawih prayers will be broadcast from the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque via Egyptian radio.

The move comes in cooperation with the National Media Authority and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The daily Ishaa and Tarawih prayers will be broadcast from the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-Aas in Old Cairo, one of Cairo’s oldest mosques, in the presence of its imam and two employees.

The ministry said the decision comes as the last ten days of Ramadan are fast approaching, and in light of the ministry’s wish to broadcast some of the Holy Month’s spiritual atmosphere.

The ministry added that the decision comes in light of the commitment of its imams and workers to put into effect a recent decision to close mosques to curb the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
