Muscat- The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has been ranked 379th out of the 1,047 varsities from around the world in 2020 QS World University Rankings.
SQU made a leap of 71 places from 2019 QS rankings when it was ranked 450th.
Dr Ali bin Saud al Bemani, the vice chancellor of SQU said that the university has achieved a significant progress in its annual ranking within the QS World University Rankings. “The progress of the university is in line with the objectives of the Oman Vision 2040. The vision aims one of Oman’s universities to be among the top 300 varsities around the world by 2030 and four of Oman’s universities among the top 300 by 2040.”
“SQU encourages faculty members to participate in research platforms by publishing their scientific output and to increase the quality of their research. Efforts are being made to communicate with the SQU alumni and employers to know about the quality of graduates.
“Citation per faculty is improved by providing rewards to the researchers for publications in peer-reviewed journals. Faculty-student ratio and international faculty ratio are maintained to meet the global standards. Consistent progress is being witnessed in the number of international students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate streams.”
