Bahrain - Classes in all public and private schools, higher education institutions, and kindergartens have been suspended for two weeks, starting from today.
The Education Ministry said in a statement last night that the move was in line with precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
It follows directives of the Government’s Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
“All public and private schools, including kindergartens, will be closed for two weeks starting from February 26, 2020,” said the statement.
“The decision was taken in light of the precautionary measures taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 among individuals who have visited Iran, before the country announced it was facing a Covid-19 pandemic.”
It said the decision also covers all public and private education institutions in the country, which will be closed for two weeks.
“All public and private higher education institutions will be closed for two weeks as a precautionary measure amid the Covid-19 outbreak,” it added.
The Labour and Social Development Ministry also announced the suspension of all studies and activities at all government rehabilitation centres and homes, along with nurseries and community centres and institutes for people with special needs.
