ABU DHABI, 19th Sept., 2015 (WAM) ? Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Co-operation and Development (MICAD), has mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who passed away this morning.
She extended her sincere condolences to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Sheikha Lubna, while paying her tributes to the deceased, said that the UAE had lost a prominent rider who had elevated the UAE's name in different international sports forums, during which he had record achievements. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Chairman of the NOC Executive Office, expressed his profound sorrow at the death of Sheikh Rashid, saying he was a noble rider who had many achievements for the UAE. The minister offered his sincere condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the soul of the deceased in eternal peace, and bestow patience and solace on his family and relatives. Meanwhile, Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, also mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid. He offered his sincere condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, praying to the Almighty Allah to rest the soul of the deceased in eternal peace, and bestow patience and solace on his family and relatives. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State, Chairman of the Board of National Media Council mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid. He extended his sincere condolences to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and the entire Al Maktoum family. He added, "The UAE today lost a unique personality," citing that the late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum contributed to various cultural and sports events, especially equestrian and endurance race. He noted that the deceased also had a significant role in the promotion of football through a variety of Ramadan tournaments in which he used to participate.
