The UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has announced on Friday a new rule that will prevent customers from receiving surprise charges on their phone bills.

From today, November 1, the ability to charge app store purchases against the monthly mobile bill has been disabled. It can be reactivated only after the owner of the account sets a purchasing limit with their respective service provider.

The move is one of TRA's steps to ensure customers do not face any surprise charges when their monthly phone bill arrives.

Previously, app store purchases can be charged against your monthly phone bill without setting any limit.
