RIYADH — The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has reduced the recruitment charges for domestic workers from the Philippines by 50 percent.

A Filipino domestic worker can be hired by spending a fixed amount of SR8,850, which is half of the existing cost, in addition to the value added tax (VAT), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported quoting the ministry sources.

The ministry has launched a new service called “Maaroufah” through its Musaned portal to facilitate and organize the recruitment procedures as well as to provide high-level services to citizens and expatriates who want to hire domestic help from the Philippines.

Under the new system, the recruitment process will take a maximum period of 45 days, provided that the name of the worker is chosen by the citizen. This service will enable the beneficiary to obtain a visa for a Filipino domestic worker.

Once furnishing the information about the worker, including name, passport number and worker’s contact number via the Musaned portal, the new service will be linked to the best licensed recruitment offices to receive and process the recruitment procedures.

The service provider will be automatically selected by the system in accordance with the proximity of the citizen’s place of residence to the city where the office of the service provider is operating.

This service is limited only to the Musaned portal, which allows browsing over 1,000 recruitment companies and offices that offer comparatively reasonable charges for their services as well as to know the performance criteria of the service providers.
