KUWAIT - Kuwait Ministry of Health (MoH) Saturday brushed aside social media reports about a rise described as high in number of cancer patients, saying "the number of cancer patients increases simultaneously with population increase."

The MoH said the social media reports about high rise in cancer patients "is inaccurate and is not based on scientific methods."

The ministry called on people to "be accurate in terms of information they use in order to avoid panic and fear among the public." It said it was exerting efforts to raise awareness of people in importance of early examination, which could increase likelihood of healing.

The early discovery of cancer can contribute to fully curing the patient by up to 90 percent, said MoH.
