KUWAIT CITY: The Court of Cassation issued a ruling to compensate Kuwait Municipality with approximately KD 25 million, which is considered one of the largest fines ordered by the local court, due to violations of a property in Salmiya area that is being used as a hotel, reports Al-Anba daily.

The court fined the defendant KD 10 thousand for each meter in excess of the area granted by the license.

The extra area is 2,519 square meters, and consists of additional buildings and basements.

According to a source from Kuwait Municipality, there are more of such cases pending before the court.

It is likely that new rulings will be issued in the Municipality’s interest to remove violations and receive compensation.

He indicated that the recent ruling of the Court of Cassation came as a result of the efforts exerted by the committee formed by the Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi to follow up the cases of building violations and ensure the collection of the state’s rights
