In a move that delighted morning commuters, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has suspended all paid parking metre operations in Ajman.
The Municipality tweeted on their twitter handle @AjmanMun, regarding the unusual event.
The free parking is to ring in World Happiness Day which is celebrated on March 20.
Parking metres can be seen sporting a jaunty yellow cloth with the words "Your parking is on us. World Happiness Day" written on it.
The Ajman Municipality aimed to give residents and visitors to the Emirate a bubble of happiness as they go about their day.
Below the inscription is a smiley face with a hashtag #HappyDay.
Yellow smiley face balloons can also be seen livening up the area.
The municipality also painted some parking slots with yellow, inscribing "Happy Parking" as well as the #HappyDay hashtag on the ground.
