The General Projects Department of the Dubai Municipality (DM) has completed the work on Lisaili Abattoir project, conforming to green building standards.
Marwan Al Mohammed, director of the general projects department, explained that the abattoir spans 15,000 square metres. "The building is a vital facility for the region and its environs, to provide the best livestock slaughtering and meat storage services, according to the best international standards," he said.
The abattoir also houses offices for administrative staff, doctors and technicians, waiting halls for men and women and a common slaughter hall for small and large animals and camels, as well as refrigerated storages for meat and livestock barns.
The project also includes utilities and other public services such as roads, parking lots and external service buildings as well as the transformer room, water tank and pumping room.
The project aims at implementing the highest standards of quality and discernment, to preserve the environment and society and to achieve the Dubai government's vision to preserve the state's resources, build a green economy and establish an environmentally sustainable city.
Dawood Al Hajiri, director-general of the Dubai Municipality pointed out the need to speed up the completion of service projects, for citizens' convenience.
During his inspection tours to follow up on work progress in the different areas of the emirate on Thursday, Al Hajiri reviewed the completion phase of a series of projects in the Hatta area such as the Hatta Community Centre project; Hatta Heritage Market and Inn; municipality office; the Hatta Labour Housing Project and the Hatta Oxygen Project.
The Hatta Community Centre project consists of a main building with two floors and has a main entrance hall, a multi-purpose hall, a men's education centre, a cafeteria and public facilities. The first floor is for women only.
The Hatta Heritage Market and Inn consists of a two-storey building designed to emphasise the area's heritage while the inn for tourists comprises 30 rooms and two suites for families.
The Hatta Labour Housing Project, which has 67 worker's rooms and six rooms for supervisors, is being built at a cost of Dh11.5 million. The Hatta Oxygen Project's progress aims to increase the air quality in Hatta by planting 100,000 trees.
