The 300 passengers who had been stranded at Dubai airport on Wednesday have been allowed to enter the country, authorities announced today.

A special team comprising officials of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, the airport and the passport department was formed to oversee all the formalities, following which the passengers were allowed to exit the airport.

The passengers had been left stranded after a change in rule yesterday, according to which in-bound passengers arriving at Dubai International (DXB) and holding residence visas issued in other Emirates must need a pre-travel approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) to return to the country.

Neeraj Agarwal, Consul press, information, and culture at the Consulate General of India in Dubai also confirmed that nearly 290 flydubai Indian passengers were transported to the safety of their homes late last night.

"Late last night, flydubai arranged seven buses to transport passengers from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. We have also come to learn that passengers from DXB Terminal 3 -- Emirates passengers -- were also transported to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain," said Agarwal.
