Tunis - Director of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Emergency Operation Office Louis Georges Arsenault arrived, on Wednesday in Tunis, for a three-day working visit. He is to visit, on Wednesday evening, the Tunisian-Libyan border-crossing point at Ras Jedir.

The visit "is part of the emergency response to be provided to the displacement of peoples, notably children," the Tunis-based UN Information Centre said. It aims to boost co-ordination between all UN agencies and better assess the situation on the ground.

UNICEF is bringing to the Tunisian-Libyan border zone technical expertise in the fields of water, hygiene, cleansing, protection of children and psychological assistance to the displaced persons.
