The “Urdun Jannah” programme, launched to encourage domestic tourism for Jordanians and residents, attracted 206,000 participants in 2022, compared with 83,000 participants in 2019, while 79 restaurants, 171 travel agencies and 15 local associations benefited from the programme in 2022.

Urdun Jannah, supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), is a subsidised programme that covers 50 per cent of the cost of each trip for Jordanians.

Yazan Khudair, assistant director-general of Visit Jordan and director of the Urdun Jannah programme on Sunday said that 2022 saw a total of 6,000 trips via bus led by 6,000 tour guides, according to Al Mamlaka TV.

The programme was launched in 2011 under the name “Jordan is most beautiful”, which has been adjusted due to changing circumstances.
