ALGIERS - Algeria granted Tunisia a financial assistance worth $ 250 million.

As part of Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa's working visit to Algeria, three agreements were signed between the two countries:

  • A deposit agreement worth $100 million between the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) and the Bank of

Algeria,

  • A loan agreement worth $100 million between the two governments,

  • A donation agreement worth $50 million to 

Tunisia.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mehdi Jomaa and his Algerian opposite number Abdelmalek Sellal.

BCT Governor Chedli Ayari explained to TAP news agency that this financial assistance will consolidate the State's assets in foreign currency by raising Tunisia's reserves by three additional days to reach 100 days of import.

During this visit, the Tunisian and Algerian delegations reviewed bilateral co-operation in the fields of energy, construction and investment and border areas' development through creation of economic projects.
