PALEMBANG, INDONESIA: The UAE is taking part in the Muslim Female Parliamentarians Conference which kicks off Friday here as part of the the meetings of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC or PUOICM).
The UAE will be represented to the one-day conference by Dr Sheikha Ali Al Owais, member of the Federal National Council (FNC). The conference will discuss ways to promote the role of women in the process of development in order to strengthen democracy in the member countries. It will also discuss the role of Muslim civil society organizations and the rights of women in Islam and the ability of women to resolve conflicts and alleviate the suffering of Palestinian women and children. The Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) is composed of parliaments of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Members states.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2012.
