DUBAI - Bank of Beirut and the Emirates Bank yesterday announced a new package of banking services targeted at non-resident Lebanese nationals residing in the UAE.
 
The package offers Lebanese expatriates the advantage of having two bank accounts, a meBank account or an EBI account in the UAE and a  Bank of Beirut Non-Resident Expatriates (BOBNRE) account in Lebanon.
 
The twin account offers free remittance service through free online transfer of funds from the UAE to their BOBNRE account.
 
Anis Al Jallaf, managing director and CEO, Emirates Bank Group said: The Lebanese community in the UAE is expanding at a rapid pace, and it needs a bank that provide them with all the banking activities that they require between the UAE and their home country. With the expertise of both Bank of Beirut and Emirates Bank, I fully trust that meNRL will be a great success."
 
The meNRL account can be opened online by filling a single account opening form to open both meAccount and BOBNRE accounts."With the launch of meNRL, the Lebanese expatriates won't have to rush from one bank to another, they can do everything in one go and free of charge," said Salim Sfeir, chairman and general manager, Bank of Beirut.
 
The new package has been developed on the same lines as meNRI, an exclusive product launched by Emirates Bank in association with the ICICI Bank of India for non resident Indians. "Bank of Beirut and Emirates Bank are the first to launch such a product, for the ever growing Lebanese population in the UAE. Two years ago, we launched meNRI for Indian Expatriates successfully. Today with the launch of meNRL, we hope that we will keep coming up with solutions to better serve our multinational customers," said Louis Scotto, General Manager Retail Banking, Emirates Bank. meNRL package includes all services of both Emirates Bank and the BOBNRE account in Lebanon. In addition to launching innovative packages such as meNRL, the Emirates Bank Group holds 10 per cent stake in Bank of
Beirut's capital.
