Cairo –  Egypt on Sunday will extend an official invitation to American business tycoon Elon Musk to visit Egypt at the time of his choice.

The move, which would be a boon for the country’s tourism sector, comes after a viral tweet the tech magnate had posted in which he praised ancient Egyptian culture and the Dendera Temple, Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB) Chairman, Amr El-Qady, said.

On 12 January 2023, Musk replied to a tweet that included a video of a 2,500-year-old staircase inside Dendera Temple in Egypt’s Qena governorate, saying that ancient Egypt was "fire", using a fire emoji to make his point.

In response, Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, invited the billionaire to visit Egypt and its soon-to-be-inaugurated Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

Tech entrepreneur Musk co-founded and leads Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company, and has recently completed his $44 billion takeover of Twitter.
