Toreador Says SASB Gas Production 15Mn CFD

Dallas-based Toreador Resources said gas production at Turkey’s Black Sea offshore South Akcakoca Sub-Basin (SASB) project had resumed at approximately 15mn cfd of natural gas. In its Year-End 2007 Reserves Report and Operational Update, Toreador said production from SASB had resumed from four wells. Toreador’s Canadian partner in SASB, Stratic Energy Corporation, announced in early February that production had resumed at a rate of around 17mn cfd and was expected to increase in coming weeks (MEES, 18 February). Output from SASB had been disrupted in November when a fishing boat damaged an underwater pipeline (MEES, 3 December 2007).

Toreador said the Akkaya-1A well was shut-in and scheduled to be re-entered soon. It also said that although the recent intervention program on the Dogu Ayazli-1 and -2 wells was successful in restarting production from the two wells, the Dogu Ayazli-2 was experiencing production declines and further intervention was necessary. The connection of the Ayazli platform to the main pipeline is in its final stages and production should commence from the two wells connected to the platform before the end of March. Toreador added that its proved, probable and possible gas reserves at the end of 2007 in Turkey were 12.9 bcf, 8.7 bcf and 6.6 bcf respectively. Turkey’s state oil company TPAO is operator of SASB and holds 51% of the project. Toreador holds 36.75% and Stratic 12.25%.
