TEHRAN - Globalization challenges in Islamic countries is the main theme of an international conference to be held in Tehran from December 3-4, 2006, ISNA reported on Friday.
The event is sponsored by National Center for Globalization Studies (NCGS), International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Islamic Chamber of Research and Information Center (ICRIC) and Tehran Industries and Mines Chamber of Commerce.
Senior consultants from World Trade Organization (WTO), UN Conference on Trade and Development (ANECTAD), Malaysia and Iranian experts are to address impact of globalization on Islamic nations in the last 10 years with upcoming accession challenges.
Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad and ambassador to WTO Datuk Supperamaniam, and the head of IDB Ahmed Muhammad Ali are noted among the lecturers. The IRIB International Conference Center (IICC) is to host the two-day event.
