Cairo –  Egyptian e-commerce platform Jumia has teamed up with Zoomcar to endorse online payment and collection transactions for car rentals, according to a press release.

Under the strategic partnership, JumiaPay will be accepting e-payments for Zoomcar’s mobile application and website, while the latter will enable users to rent cars on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

Zoomcar is the largest car-sharing service platform in developing markets and the biggest self-driving car company in India. Meanwhile, Zoomcar Egypt offers its services through the company's platform that allows citizens to easily access safe personal means of transportation.

The users can book cars through the app, while car owners will be able to register their cars for rent besides having the chance to obtain a free car inspection at the start of the trip. This provides car owners with a satisfactory financial return with maximum flexibility and insurance covering up to 100% of damage, subject to the terms and conditions.

Head of Consumer Services - JumiaPay, Sarah Hassan, said the firm aims to conclude partnerships and agreements with many companies and institutions willing to improve the customer experience through e-payments.

In 2021, Jumia launched JumiaPay to be a payment service provider (PSP), after it had obtained the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) required licences and approvals. Its objective is to endorse financial inclusion and digital transformation in Egypt, and Africa in general.
