Former global head of Islamic finance for Barclays Capital, Barclays Wealth and Barclays Corporate, Harris Irfan has reappeared as the head of DIFC-based Cordoba Capital, an independent Islamic finance advisory firm. Irfan will also be familiar to readers of The Islamic Globe as co-founder of the Islamic finance team at Deutsche Bank and CEO of the bank's Shari'ah consulting subsidiary, Dar Al Istithmar.

Cordoba Capital aims to employ investment banking and private equity skills in tandem with experienced Shari'ah scholars to help clients develop Islamic finance product platforms and with Shari'ah compliant deal execution.
