BAHLA -- The Administration of the General Census of Population, Housing and Establishments, represented by the supervisory centrers in the wilayats of Bahla and Al Hamra, yesterday organised an introductory seminar under the auspices of Shaikh Majid bin Khalifa al Harthy, Wali of Bahla. Badr bin Ali al Ma'ani, member of Majlis Ash'shura and representative of the Wilayat of Bahla, officials of the governmental and local institutions, shaikhs and citizens also took part.

The seminar included presenting two working papers. Yousef bin Sulaiman al Shu'eli, Assistant Census Supervisor, presented the first working paper during which he reviewed the Sultanate's previous censuses, defined the census for the audience, its legal basis, objectives in terms of determining the Sultanate's populations, the population's geographic distribution and identifying the number of housing and its types.

Jameel bin A'mer al Hina'ei, Assistant Supervisor, presented the second working paper during which he gave a briefing on the stages of the census, namely the preparatory work stage, the updating stage and the actual counting stage.
