BEIRUT: Iconic Lebanese singer Wadih al-Safi was laid to rest in his hometown of Niha in the Chouf Monday evening.
A large funeral service headed by Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai and attended by an array of politicians and artists preceded the burial.
All roads to Downtown Beirut – where the funeral took place at the St. George Cathedral – were closed for several hours Monday. Safi died Friday.
