Doha: Under the patronage of the Minister of Business and Trade, H E Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Qatar will host the second Gulf family firms' forum from November 30 and December 2.

Over 200 members and founders of family companies and experts will take part in the forum. Deputy Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Mohamed bin Towar Al Kuwari said at a press conference yesterday that the forum is to be organised by the Chamber, with strategic participation of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and scientific contribution of the Sorbonne University, is of great importance due to both the size and contribution of the family firms to the GCC economies as well as its speakers.

Chairman of the second Gulf family firms' forum Majid Al Qaroob said the forum will discuss legislative and regulatory, economic, administrative and social challenges of these companies.

Deloitte holds conference on data security

DOHA: Deloitte in Qatar recently held a conference about the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) in Doha to address fraud protection. The event was attended by a number of organizations across several industries such as banking, telecommunications, and hospitality.

Hisham Zeitouny, Partner in Charge of Enterprise Risk Services at Deloitte in Qatar, said: "Fraud has become a serious concern worldwide. We accordingly encourage all companies that accept, transmit and store credit card data to comply with PCI-DSS standards. Such compliance will protect them by providing confidentiality of all credit card transactions and associated data."
