DOHA: Qatar Airways bags two more prestigious citations from the recently held "Oscars" of the World Travel Awards in London following last year's successful feat. The country's carrier airline was voted as the Middle East's Leading Business Class Airline for the second year around and another citation for being the region's Leading Airline Lounge in a survey conducted by World Travel Awards from professionals in the travel and tourism authority.

The Leading Airline Lounge award was in recognition of Qatar Airways' Premium Terminal- a dedicated facility at Doha International Airport for first and business class passengers- which opened about two years ago.

QatarAirways picked up the awards at a presentation ceremony during the World Travel Market, one of the world's biggest travel exhibitions , held in London. The airline fought a stiff competition with other regional neighbours to win the illustrious accolades.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, expressed delight that travel industry peers recognised the airline once gain for its premium service on the ground and in the air.

"Winning these two awards just goes to prove that, once again, Qatar Airways is seen by the travel industry as the preferred airline in the Middle East for frequent corporate travelers", said Baker. He said being awarded the title for Middle East's Leading Business Class Airline for the second year in a row demonstrates consistency in the airlines' superior business class product and quality service over and above its competition.

"The Premium Terminal, dedicated sole to Qatar Airways First and Business Class passengers, is a world first offering exceptional facilities ranging from exclusive check-in, duty-free shopping and conference space spa, Jacuzzi and fine dining restaurants", he said.

He added: "Winning this award for the region's leading airline lounge reinforces the fact that the terminal is seen as the benchmark not only in the Middle East, but also the world".
