Muscat: At a cost of OMR155 million, the Sultanate of Oman will celebrate the inauguration of the Ibri solar power plant on Monday.

Oman News Agency ONA said: "The inauguration of the Ibri solar power plant will be celebrated in the Wilayat of Ibri on Monday, with an investment of about OMR 155 million, in line with Oman's 2040 vision to invest in available opportunities and protect the Sultanate of Oman's natural resources.

 

The plant is the first station to be connected to the main electricity network in the Sultanate of Oman, and it produces 500 megawatts, enough to supply about 50,000 homes with electricity.

Engineer Yaqoub bin Saif Al Kiyumi, CEO of the Oman Energy and Water Procurement Company, indicated that the Ibri solar power plant project is in the interest of the national priorities set by Oman Vision 2040, which are environmental conservation, exploitation of natural resources, governorate development and the involvement of the private sector.
