Oman Sail's www.GoMusandam website has been voted the top sports website in Oman after winning gold in the sports category of Oman Web Awards.
The national initiative, which uses the power of sport to help develop the youth of Oman, is celebrating a second podium place victory in the Oman Web Awards sports category with a bronze medal win for their Oman Sail website www.omansail
It is the third gold medal to be won by the www.gomusandam website and consolidates its top spot as the leading sports website in the Arab region.
The website was specially developed last year for Oman's flagship Musandam-Oman Sail's sailing campaign in the global MOD70 Championship.
Oman Sail's two winning websites were among almost 300 entries submitted in 26 categories for this year's Seventh edition of the Oman Web Awards decided by the Oman Web Awards Committee and the SJS Group (Oman).
The contest falls under the patronage of the Information Technology Authority (e.oman) in association with Ayna, Microsoft, and Business Software Alliance (BSA).
"We are proud that our websites are recognised among the country's best and especially pleased that we have now been acknowledged as top award winners here at home, in a local contest, after being recognised at the Pan Arab Web Awards in September last year. This is a great achievement for us," said Oman Sail digital communications officer, Maria al Shamsi.
The www.gomusandam website won two gold medals at the Pan Arab Web Awards soon after it went live in May last year by topping 450 entries each in both the sports and travel and tourism categories.
"Our websites not only reflect all of our achievements and everything that we at Oman Sail are trying to accomplish but they also deliver an outstanding platform for promoting the power of sport, creating national role models, rekindling our maritime heritage and showcasing our magnificent country. Importantly too, they provide an instantaneous vehicle for people around the world to reach and communicate with us," said Shamsi.
