Dubai: The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Authority (DMCC) has announced the development of a mosque for the benefit of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers community.
DMCC Executive Chairman Ahmad Bin Sulayem said DMCC is building a mosque to accommodate over 1,000 worshippers, including an upper-level prayer area available for over 300 women.
The design of the mosque is to be inspired by Ummayad/Andalusian architecture.
The mosque will be constructed on a site comprising part of Lake A and some adjacent land. In addition to the mosque, further large scale parking and landscaping will be constructed in order to meet the needs of the community.
Earlier this year, in response to community requests, DMCC announced the transformation of one of its lakes into a 55,000 square metre community park due to be completed by the end of this year.
There are currently 65 mixed-use commercial and residential towers and over 200 retail outlets in operation within JLT.
