ABU DHABI, 23 April, 05 (WAM) - The Dubai International HolyQuran Award (DIHQA) has announced the institution of a new competitionfor the best voices among people who recite Quran as part ofthe International Quran Memorisation and Recitation contest.
The first round of the new competition will be conducted onthe sidelines of the ninth cycle of the international competitionin Ramadan, it was decided at a recent meeting for DIHQA OrganisingCommittee chaired by Ibrahim bu Melha, the Vice-Chairman of DubaiJustice Department and Dubai Attorney General, according to areport in Khaleej Times.
The committee decided to choose scholar Karim Mansoori fromIran to judge the voices in the best voice competition. Dr ArefAl Sheikh, the Secretary General of the award, said that thisnew contest is one of the several new activities and events thatwill be introduced as part of the development plan.
He said that the award will make use of modern technology toform a database of all the participants in the award's differentfunctions, and of the organisations cooperating with DIHQA. Themeeting also discussed developing DIHQA's website in cooperationwith the Dubai e-government. It also discussed the DIHQA?s plansto move to new premises by next month end.
The committee took up the issue of financial incentives to thevolunteers in the award and to the winners in all branches.
The deliberations covered the selection of participants in theinternational recitation competition for Africa and Europe. Itwas decided to coordinate with Dr. Mustafa Aqdamir to overseethe selection of candidates from Europe and with Dr. Abdul RehmanAl Sameet to handle the nomination of participants from Africancountries.
This move aims at ensuring that the best people take part inthe annual competition, which has bagged international acclaimin such a short time.
Heads of different sections of DIHQA had been asked to submittheir proposals for the new cycle of the international competitionto be held this year in Ramadan.
