Tehran - More than 120 Iranian MPs have signed a petition, calling for a plan to block Hormuz Strait in reaction to oil sanctionsn, Member of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Javad Karimi Ghoddoussi said on Tuesday.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of Majlis formal session, Ghoddoussi said the plan would be a reaction from Iranian nation to hostility of the western governments.

Underlining that Majlis has always been defending rights of Iran and Iranians in nuclear talks and other issues, Ghoddoussi said based on the late Imam Khomeini's order, if enemies want to stand against our religion, we will stand against them worldwide and westerners' sanctions are tyrannical and their stances are arbitrary in nature.

The MP said Iranian nation will never bow to such a hostile plan by rallying support for the government and the defense and military officials.

He said that it is for years that Iran has proved its rule over the Great and Lesser Tunbs and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has in the past 32 years stopped Navy of the western governments to prevent them from movements in Iranian territorial waters, in line with Iranian sovereignty over the islands and the Hormuz Strait.

Iran's Majlis will adopt double urgency of a plan aimed to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to the US-led European Union oil sanctions, an Iranian lawmaker said.

Meanwhile, Member of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign policy Ibrahim Aqa-Mohammadi said that the Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy has drawn up a plan which puts emphasis on blocking the passage of tankers carrying oil through the Strait of Hormuz to countries that imposed sanctions on Iran.

He added that the plan has been drafted n response to oil sanctions by the 27-member EU.

The lawmaker said asserting its sovereignty right on territorial waters is the minimum measure that can be taken by Iran in response to the unfair Western oil sanctions against Tehran.

Aqa-Mohammadi noted that some 100 Iranian lawmakers had signed a double urgent motion by Sunday.

On July 1, under US pressure, the EU imposed a new round of sanctions against Tehran's oil and banking sectors which had been approved by the bloc's foreign ministers on January 23.

The US administration later in March approved new embargoes on the Iranian crude, which aim to penalize other countries for buying or selling Tehran's oil. The sanctions took effect on June 28.
