DOHA: Now that Qatar made it to the FIFA World Cup 2022 yesterday, celebrations erupted across Doha with prominent personalities and common citizens expressing their views on the meaning of the event for them.

Ahmad Al Ansari, Business Development Director of Mowasalat (pictured) said: "I had the privilege to be part of the team that welcomed a FIFA delegation and by hosting the World Cup, we will take Qatar to a global level."

He added that Mowasalat has started to look into some environment friendly solutions in anticipation of the great event. And this is not new as Mowasalat made trials of buses that run on gas to liquids (GTL) which is considered the most environmentally friendly means. As for future plans, Al Ansari said that in view of the forthcoming major event where Qatar will be hosting the World Cup, Mowasalat will be fully prepared in providing all the transportation requirements.

"Our first experience with the Asian Games in 2006 was a success. We provided then 700 buses and over 1,700 cars in addition to 2,500 drivers not to mention the large number of staff," he said.

He added that for the past four years the Mowasalat fleet has increased to reach at the moment some 2,500 buses in addition to 2,500 taxis and 400 limousines.
