Foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Iran-Algeria cultural ties is a strong support for the two countries' mutual relations.

Algerian Culture Minister Khalida Toumi Masoudi, who is visiting Tehran to attend Algeria cultural week ceremony here, conferred with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Saturday.

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, Mottaki by expressing pleasure over holding Algerian cultural week in Tehran welcomed establishment of ties between Iranian and Algerian scientists, academics and religious elites.

He expressed Tehran's readiness for expansion of economic ties with Algiers and said, "There are good potentials for expanding ties between the two countries especially in the fields of trade, industry, engineering and technology."

The Algerian minister, for her part, called Iran-Algeria ties very good and said, "Algerian people have a friendly attitude towards Iranians."

He added, "President Bouteflika, himself, has a special respect for the Iranian nation."

Expressing her country's readiness to expand cultural and economic ties, the visiting minister reminded the successful holding of Iran's cultural week in Algeria and hoped that the Algerian cultural week can be held successfully, too.
