Najaf - President Fuad Masum met with the religious authority in Najaf Ali al-Sistani for more than an hour in a first visit since he took office presidential.
Masum said in a press statement in Najaf: that his visit to Saudi Arabia comes as part of breaking the ice between the two brotherly Muslim neighbors.
He added: I had the privilege to visit Sistani and I had multiple visits with delegations, and in each visit, we listen to value guidance that has enabled us to overcome many of the problems, even when we were in the process of writing the constitution and how to write it and after its completion, he had the main role in overcoming the problems. "
He noted that Sistani sees Iraqis equally without difference between a component and another, and his instructions has great role in the foundation of the unity of Iraq and its people. "
Masum has visited the shrine of Imam Ali before meeting Grand Sistani.
It is mentioned that Masum's tour includes a visit to Ayatollahs, Fayad, al-Hakim and al-Najafi, then concludes with a visit to meet Yacoubi before heading directly to the Saudi capital Riyadh to meet Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.
