Abu Dhabi, Apr 17th, 2012 (WAM) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan ratified today the list of winners in the 5th edition of the Khalifa Award for Education.
Among a total of 31 winning projects, 25 are from UAE and 6 from other Arab countries. The winners will be honoured at a special ceremony to be held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on 25th this month. Sheikh Mansour ratified the list while chairing a meeting of the Council of Trustees of the Award at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. The Khalifa Award for Education is intended to discover successful individuals and educational practices at the local, regional and Arab world levels. The council of trustees is consisted of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council Mughir Khamis Al Khaili, Secretary General of the Award Amal Al Afifi, Mohammed Salem Al Dhahiri and Suad Al Suwaidi. The Award was founded under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.The Award gets guidance from Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education.
At the local level, the Award is given in the categories of : General Education; Education for People with Special Needs; Creating Knowledge Networks; New Media and Education; Education and the Sustainable Environment; and Education and Community Service. Entries are received from the UAE and the Arab countries in the categories of : Higher Education; Educational Research; Projects and Innovative Educational Programmes, Educational Authoring for Children, and a Written Academic Work about the Patron of the Award Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2012.
