Fujairah: A man has been arrested following the theft of thousands of dirhams worth of gold from a villa.

The Asian suspect, identified as Kh.M.M., had fled the country and was found in Oman. The stolen gold, worth Dh750,000, was recovered from his accomplice, identified as K.F.A., in the UAE.

The villa owner told Fujairah Police that his villa had been burgled and gold and cash taken. Forensic experts swept the crime scene for fingerprints.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) discovered the suspect had fled the country and cooperated with Interpol who handed over the suspect to UAE authorities.

Colonel Mohammad Ahmad, CID Director at Fujairah Police, praised the efforts to track down and arrest the suspect in a short space of time. He also commended the cooperation between security agencies in the UAE and neighbouring countries to boost and enhance security.

He urged community members to cooperate with the police and report any crimes.
