JEDDAH -- Magrabi Eye & Ear Hospital in Jeddah recently organized a four-day clinical course for ophthalmologists who wish to sit the final FRCS exam in the UK and Ireland.

The course took place from Feb. 2 to 5 and 37 ophthalmologists from the Kingdom and various Arab countries attended.

Mutasim Alireza, managing director, Magrabi Hospitals & Centers, said: "Magrabi has been organizing these courses annually for the last 15 years, in line with our mission, to improve clinical performance of ophthalmologists in the Middle East through continuous medical education." He added that more than 15 of Magrabi's senior physicians were lecturing in this course, which covers all the ophthalmic subspecialities. This course ended after a mock FRCS exam.

Alireza mentioned that Magrabi Eye & Ear Hospital is accredited and approved by the Saudi Council for Health Specialties as a training center for the full four-year residency program in ophthalmology. The program will allow those residents to sit the Saudi Board Exam and become certified consultants in ophthalmology three years later.
