JEDDAH: Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced Monday that it will recall the 2010 Lexus GX460 as a result of a safety risk. Reports said that the car is prone to slide when driven at high speed in sweeping turns, before the stability system begins to function. During the last few days, TMC suspended selling the model in North America, Russia and the Middle East. The recall includes Toyota's 2010 Prado VX.
TMC announced that this safety risk affects only 2010 Lexus GX460 and Toyota's 2010 Prado VX, which are equipped with the electronic stability control system and dynamic suspension system. It has been found that the two systems are not functioning properly at high speeds in sweeping turns.
Locally, Abdul Latif Jameel Company (ALJ) announced that it will contact all the 2010 Lexus GX460 owners (less than 100) and 2010 Prado VX owners (less than 400) to arrange with them for their visits to the service centers to reprogram their cars. ALJ spokesman said that the company has temporarily suspended selling the two models, and will resume selling after reprogramming the existing models.
